Telematics is a tool that transmits data about a vehicle and engine from a cellular device on a truck. That data can be viewed remotely by someone via the internet. Telematics was initially used by fleets as a GPS feature and has since evolved into a system capturing significantly more data, including fault codes, idle times, driver behaviors, and more.

OnCommand Connection takes raw data collected by telematics devices and combines it with our vehicles expertise to deliver actionable insights to dealers and fleet managers. With GPS coordinates, OnCommand connection can relay location and route history, speed history, time spent at any location via geofencing, and distance to the nearest service center in times of need or preventative maintenance. OCC can translate raw fault codes, distinguish the severity of each fault, and interpret likely causes and services required. Engine data collected can put a monetary value on the fuel used during idling and monitor driver behavior information that can be used to increase efficiency and safe driving habits.

With all of this information being collected and translated, OnCommand Connection allows customers to use the actionable insights to make smarter fleet management decisions, thus increasing uptime, fuel efficiency, fleet safety, and driver retention.

OnCommand Connection is the only all-makes solution that captures health monitoring on the market, allowing fleet managers to view their entire fleet and make informed decisions in one portal, no matter the make or model. It is also the only service communications system with an integrated remote diagnostic system and dealer parts inventory.

OCC is the only telematics system that has developed and added these new features at no additional cost, allowing fleet managers and dealerships to better oversee and maintain their fleets, including:

  • Over-the-air programming via the OCC portal

  • Gateway integrations allowing fleets to subscribe to the fleet management system of their choice

  • Data-driven VIN-level preventative maintenance recommendations

  • Weekly reports of vehicles most at risk of roadside failure sent via email and OCC portal

  • Analysis of significant drivers of fuel economy

  • Fleet view of tire inflation levels of both tractor and trailer
